Partial-Chip Systems – Stone Silicate

Our basic, budget-friendly floor coatings, the Deluxe and Premium, are known as “partial-chip” coating systems. Both systems incorporate thermoplastic flakes called polyvinyl acetate (or PVC for short), which are spread into the primer coat at varying densities (medium for Deluxe and heavy to extra-heavy for the Premium). Because the Deluxe does not possess a clear topcoat (it consists of a primer and color coat only), it is reserved for areas in which no vehicular traffic is present (it’s not suitable for garage installations). Our Premium is a little more expensive, although still budget-friendly…it sports a single clear topcoat and can be installed in most any space. But we offer a few advanced options as well called Diamond Effects and Stone Silicate coating systems. These are considered the “next-level” partial chip coatings, similar to the Premium system but with one important difference. In these systems, the chip blends incorporate both thermoplastic and mica stone flakes. While the thermoplastic chips add color and contrast, the mica flakes give a reflective sparkle that can’t be achieved with thermoplastic-only flooring.
